Sara Mestas, AMFT

Hello, my name is Sara Mestas and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who has been working in the mental health field for the past eight years where my experience has been in working with preteens, teens, and their families. My approach to therapy with every client is strengths based and person centered. I believe that the primary agent of change in a therapeutic relationship is empowering clients to take charge of their lives. I am most grateful for the opportunity to share vulnerable space with someone and be a witness to their journey of transformation. I enjoy working with clients who are struggling with everyday life stressors as well as those with significantly impactful events that impact functioning. My goal is not to just help people survive their hard times, but to thrive in the face of them. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches to best fit my client and have vast experience in the area of Trauma, attachment, mood disorders, anxiety, parenting, and behavioral difficulties. I employ an integrative approach and often utilize art therapy, play therapy, CBT, TF-CBT and DBT interventions based on the needs of my client. I am a culturally competent, open-minded bilingual therapist who is familiar in working with a broad range of cultures and life experiences. I truly believe that everyone can benefit from having a safe person to share their thoughts and feelings with. I look forward to connecting with you and walking along side you as you find your true fulfilment.

“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying ‘Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner’. I don’t try to control the sunset. I watch in awe as it unfolds” – Carl Rogers
