Hello, my name is Robert Novell, I am an Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have obtained my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy through National University. I attended Cal State San Marcos where I received my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. I acquired my training hours at Loma Linda Behavioral Medicine Center and Palomar Family Counseling.
I am also a United States Veteran. I served 5 years from 2006-2011 as an Aviation Technician working on the F/A-18 platform. I was attached to the USS Ronald Reagan, for my 2011 deployment. Upon completion of the deployment, I exited the Navy where I received an Honorable discharge for my service.
I have worked with a wide range of clients from children to adults in both individual and group settings. My passion for this field was cultivated through my own personal experiences and developed in my progression through the field of psychology.
In my experience, both safety and structure have been important factors for individual growth. Therefore, I align myself with the therapeutic approaches of CBT and DBT to facilitate structure. I also align with Person-Centered therapy that provides an experience of safety through genuineness, empathy, unconditional positive regard, active listening, non-directive, and here-and-now. The combination of these approaches allows for every individual to grow and thrive in their current situation and future selves.
I look to cultivate and provide an environment that allows every individual to grow and surpass there current life difficulties through positive experiences.
