Hello, my name is Laura Vogel and I am an Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have experience working with children ages 8 to 18 and families. Working at a residential treatment facility for minors has led me to work with teenagers; they now have a special place in my heart. It’s my honor to help guide burgeoning youths as they navigate the murky waters of transitioning from child to adult. It can be such a confusing and frightening time, and the journey does not need to be walked alone.
My deep-seated belief that the client has all the answers they need within themselves dictates how I practice therapy. The majority of humans are doing the best they can with what they have, and sometimes try and find peace and safety in self-destructive ways. Positive intentions to protect oneself from pain, with negative consequences. It is my role as your therapist to help you connect with your True Self, and find the solutions to your problems and walk through hardships gracefully by asking you the right questions and equipping you with the necessary tools. The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of my work, and I believe it can be a stepping stone toward helping you develop a positive and functioning relationship first with yourself, and then others. I work with clients that struggle with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and behavioral difficulties. I utilize a person-in-environment approach, and look at a person’s life holistically in order to help with positive integration of the mind, body, spirit. I like to use a variety of different therapeutic modalities in order to meet the client where they are at, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and a trauma-informed approach.
“We suffer from a case of mistaken identity. Our culture has sold us a bill of goods about who we really are. Beneath all the inner chatter and emotional turmoil, we are much more than we have been led to believe.” – Richard Schwartz, Ph.D.
