Welcome! My name is Michelle Ulloa. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, as well as a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. While working towards my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the California State University Long Beach, I fell in love with helping others overcome obstacles in their lives to become the best version of themselves. This passion led me to then earn a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University.
As a bilingual English and Spanish speaker, I make every effort to communicate with families in their preferred language that they are comfortable with. As the wife of a veteran, I have had the pleasure of working with families and individuals from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds, both on the east and west coasts of the United States. I have experience collaborating with adults, teens, children and their families in a wide range of situations/disorders to name a few (bullying, behavioral problems, families in different life transitions, grief & loss, parenting skills, ADHD, adjustment disorder, anxiety, trauma, depression and self-harm).
I have worked with clients as young as a few months old up to age 5 in their homes with their caregivers, enhancing their development potential. I have also worked at a domestic violence shelter with women and their children in crisis and in a non-profit out-patient facility. My experience has guided me to have a systems theory perspective. I also use an integrative approach in which I utilize Play Therapy Techniques, Behavior Modification, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus and Client Center, based on your needs.
I believe understanding ourselves and our family experiences are essential for growth and healing. As a psychotherapist, my goal is to support you through this process and empower you to make your own decisions and ultimately reach your goals in therapy. First and foremost, I will meet you where you are and work together on improving your situation. Whatever it is that you are struggling with, consider that this can be the beginning of an incredible self-fulfilling journey to having the life you hope for. I will use my humor, intuition, theoretical knowledge and a variety of interactive therapeutic approaches to guide you through to the other side of your hardship.
You deserve joy and happiness, you can experience peace, and you can strengthen connection in your relationships. I’m looking forward to supporting you in achieving your full potential.
