“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them” -Albert Einstein
Hi, my name is Rachael Gelgand and I am an Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I believe it takes great courage for a person to reach out and ask for help. It’s not easy to change. Change is possible when we get out of our own way. Sometimes it takes another person to help with that. That’s where therapy comes in.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Counseling Psychology for Marriage and Family Therapy from California Baptist University. I completed my training hours at the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Perris, where I worked with individuals, groups, families, and couples who struggled with alcohol and drug addiction, sex addiction, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, self-esteem issues, anger management, grief, parenting, and abuse issues.
I originally started in the medical field working primarily in family practice as a medical assistant and phlebotomist for 15 years. I have always been interested in psychology and helping people not only physically, but emotionally too. I became a State and Internationally Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and have worked in the field for a decade educating and counseling people and their families. It was during that time that I continued to build on my education to become a therapist. My goal is to help people on a deeper level. It is important to me to meet my client where they are emotionally and work together in the healing process to achieve my client’s goals. I truly want to help those who are struggling, develop the coping skills needed for them to be successful in their own lives.
