“What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, and more unashamed conversation.” – Glenn Close
Welcome! My name is Sarah Argyris. I am registered as an APCC (Associate Professional Clinical Counselor) in the state of California. I received my Bachelor’s degree from San Bernardino State University in Liberal Arts in the year 2014. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 2021 with a Master’s degree in Educational and Clinical Counseling. I also completed additional coursework in Psychobiology and Psychopharmacology, Addictions, Assessments, and Interventions, as well as Advanced Clinical Therapy coursework. My internships in the past included working with children on a social-emotional learning level in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District as well as Corona Norco Unified School District. I also have experience with one on one therapy through my graduate program where I worked with young adults.
The majority of my experience is working with school-aged adolescents. I have experience working with children ages 11 to 17 years old in the school counseling setting. I have a complete understanding of 504 planning as well as IEP meetings within the education system and would love to help families better understand this process. I have experience working with children in group settings as well as one on one counseling. Small groups I have successfully run and implemented include children of incarcerated parents/family members, stress-less groups, children of divorce, social skills, social and emotional well-being, and overall mental health support. Working with children and young adults dealing with crisis management and anxiety is also one of my specialties.
A little about me personally: I am married and in my 30’s. My self-care “me time” includes binging on my favorite TV shows, treating myself to lunch and shopping, reading a good book, and organizing my home. My family is my world and I firmly believe in the benefits of having a strong at-home support system. I believe that mental health is just as important as physical health and that it should be treated seriously. I am here to break the mental health stigma.
My goal in working with you is to first establish a trusting working relationship. You have to feel comfortable with your therapist. I would like to get to know you as well as answer any questions you have about me. I believe through trust, empathy, and learning about your personal story I can help you get to a point of living your truth. I would like to empower you to take control over your life and emotions- whatever that may mean for you. I will use my knowledge of theoretical approaches to decide which method or combination of therapy approaches works best for YOU. I do not tie myself to one type of therapy as I believe that every story is unique. I may combine variations of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, among others.
You have taken the first step into healing just by being on this website and reading this bio and for that, I am proud of you. Let’s take your life back.
