Hi! My name is Shannon Montoya, I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at California State University, Fullerton and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide.
As a therapist, I have experience counseling individual adults and children, couples and families. The majority of my work has focused on anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship dynamics, and trauma.
During therapy, I explore elements of clients early attachments to discuss how it impacted their world view and experience with current symptoms. Past relationships and experiences have a great impact on how we navigate our lives today, and by understanding that we can understand how to create change going forward.
It is important to me that a strong foundation is built upon mutual trust and respect. I strive to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment so clients can feel comfortable to process difficult emotions and put in the work necessary to create change in their lives. I believe clients are the expert of their own lives and I am here with the tools to help guide them to where they want to be.
