Hello, my name is Travis Knowlton. I am an associate clinical social worker, I work with children from 8 years of age to teens, adults and families. Whether it be a single client, a couple or a whole family, working together through challenges and finding our strengths, is my approach to therapy and healing
Being a husband, father and veteran I use those experiences and knowledge to relate to others challenges and struggles. Managing stress, developing new perspectives and just being there for someone when they are going through their worst experience, I have come to realize that sometimes stillness is the key, it helps us express, release and become self-aware.
The stillness aspect I apply to my own life. Camping with my family in the wilderness whether it be local or on a road trip to Yosemite, escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life helps me to reenter and bring my best to the clients I serve.
In my practice I utilize evidence based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy and somatic psychotherapy. Discovering the sense of self, can be an amazing experience, noticing how your body feels when happy, excited, motivated or even stressed gives us a potential road map to unlocking the built in strength and resilience one has already.
As a therapist I believe the relationship is the most important aspect of healing. Being culturally competent, non-judgmental and having an open mind to build a comfortable, relaxed safe space for clients and their families.
I look forward to meeting and working with you!
