Hi! My name is Yurielle Hairston. I am a registered Associate Marriage Family Therapist. I completed the graduate program at National University earning my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. I completed a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Stanislaus.
I worked six years at a nonprofit residential facility that focused on educational and mental health treatment for youth with psychological, emotional, behavioral and developmental needs. I spent three years providing direct supervision to the adolescents as a Youth Support Worker and three years working in a community based program providing individualized life skill coaching to Riverside County foster and probation youth. The population I served were children, pre-teens and teenagers diagnosed with, Anxiety, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Depression, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Psychoticism, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Sexual Abuse, and Substance Use Disorders.
I also worked with specialized populations such as Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender (LGBT) and Commercial Exploitation of Children (CSEC). Due to my advocacy, support and abilities to work with the youth, I was awarded employee of the year!
As a therapist, I am culturally competent, open-minded, and non-judgmental. The treatment modalities I utilize when working with clients are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I see clients of all ages, but I especially like the teenagers! I am dedicated to working with youth and their families to overcome obstacles, identify strengths, establish effective communication styles and recognize that they are truly resilient.
